Hoping to reach their native places safely amid ongoing lockdown, nine migrants of Uttar Pradesh met with a tragedy when an ill-fated vehicle, in which they were returning from Srinagar, fell into the river Chenab on Jammu-Srinagar national highway.
Seven out of a total of nine migrants traveling in the vehicle feared to have died as the body of only one person has been retrieved so far while six others were reportedly washed away in the mighty river.
A senior police officer engaged in the rescue operation told International Business Times that three persons were rescued during a 12-hour long search operation out of which one individual succumbed to his injuries while two others were seriously injured.

KURIANWALA:
A young man riding a motorcycle was killed after a kite string slit his throat in the city on Wednesday.
Reportedly, the victim was coming to Faisalabad for shopping when the incident took place.
Police took the body into custody and handed it over to his heirs after taking necessary action.

HARIPUR: Four persons were killed and seven others injured in various incidents in the district, police said here on Tuesday.
They said that two persons were killed in Beer village over a minor altercation.
The police said that there Muhammad Asif and Waseem Bahadur exchanged harsh words over some unknown dispute on Monday evening and the matter was resolved by the elders of the area.
However, according to police, Muhammad Asif allegedly opened indiscriminate fire on Waseem Bahadur when they came across on Tuesday morning, killing him on the spot.
The relatives of slain Waseem, they said, rushed to the scene and caught the fleeing Muhammad Asif and shot him dead.
