Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today asked agricultural scientists to conduct further research over local fruits and agricultural items to expand their market. It s essential to conduct more research on our local fruits. We need to expand the market of local [agricultural] items, conducting more research on those. I think our local items are tastier, she said while unveiling the cover of a book titled 100 Krishi Projukti Atlas at a function in Dhaka.
Peopleâs income wonât increase if agriculture doesnât improve: Razzaque

DHAKA, Jan 24, 2021 (BSS) â Agriculture Minister Dr. Muhammad Abdur Razzaque today said the income of people in the country will not increase if the agriculture doesnât improve.
âNo matter how developed the country is, if the agriculture doesnât improve, then the source of livelihood of the people along with the income will not increase,â he said.
Noting that about 70-80 percent people who lives in the villages depend on agriculture, he said if their income doesnât increase, the local market will not improve and if the local market isnât developed, the industry will not expand.
Bangladeshi agri-products ready to conquer markets in Germany and other EU countries
Last week, Bangladeshi Agriculture Minister dr Muhammad Abdur Razzaque, at a virtual conference titled “Bangladesh: Opportunities for export and trade of agro-products: Quality and certification”, stated that high-value crops such as fruits and vegetables have potentials to conquer markets in Germany and other EU countries.
Bangladesh has achieved food self-sufficiency due to the government priority to agricultural development. Bangladesh produces a huge variety of agricultural products, he added.
Bangladeshi Ambassador to Germany Md Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan, expressed his confidence about the quality of Bangladeshi agri-products especially fruits such as mango and pineapple, which, he said are superior to those that are available in German markets.
