Voters head to polls for PS 43, 88 and PB 20 by-polls

Polling being held under strict security Vacant Sindh Assembly seats were occupied by PPP, while the PB-20 seat was occupied by JUI-F All the MPAs had lost their lives to coronavirus KARACHI:  Voters are heading to the polls to elect their new lawmakers in the by-elections  being held for the vacant Sindh and Balochistan Assembly seats PS-43 Sanghar III, PS-88 Malir II and PB-20 Pishin III. All three seats fell vacant last year after the lawmakers elected from the seats passed away due to the coronavirus. Strict security measures are in place for the polling.  PB-20 Pishin III The voters of Pishin III constituency are also casting their votes for the vacant PB-20 seat. The seat fell vacant after Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl’s (JUI-F) Syed Fazal Agha passed away due to COVID-19 in May last year.

The polling for Malir s PS-88, Sanghar s PS-43, Pishin s PB-20 was held today, starting at 8am till 5pm. Strict security arrangements were made as area residents came to polling stations to vote for their area representatives. During the polling, different incidents of violence and chaos were reported. The police have reached the site and are trying to resolve the matter.

SAMAA - PPP s Jam Shabbar Ali takes PS-43 by-election

PPP candidate Jam Shabbir Ali has won PS-43 by-election in Sanghar, according to unofficial results. Ali secured 48,028 votes and won the provincial assembly seat that fell vacant after veteran lawmaker Jam Madad Ali died of coronavirus on November 13, 2020. PTI candidate Mushtaq Junejo came second with 6,925 votes. The constituency has 157,210 registered voters and 132 polling stations, of which 34 stations were declared sensitive. Some 1,700 security personnel were deployed to maintain law and order.

PPP beats PTI in Sanghar by-poll by big margin

In Balochistan, JUI-F candidate defeats ruling BAP and secures PB-20 Pishin seat SANGHAR: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has secured a landslide victory in by-poll held in district Sanghar’s provincial assembly seat. As per the unofficial results, PPP s Jam Shabbir Ali got 48,028 votes in Sanghar’s PS-43 constituency. Mushtaq Junejo, candidate of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), came second with 6,925 votes. A total of seven candidates were contesting the polls, with a rigorous competition held between the PPP and the PTI. The Sindh Assembly s constituency, based on Jam Nawaz Ali taluka of Sanghar district, fell vacant after the demise of PPP MPA Jam Madad Ali Khan on November 13 last year.
