Boy killed in Longford road tragedy named

Share this article The tragedy took place at 2pm on Wednesday afternoon The boy who died following a fatal road accident in Longford has been named as four-year-old Charlie McDonagh. The youngster lost his life after he was in collision with a van in the Palace Crescent area of the Ardnacassa housing estate in Longford town at around 2pm on Wednesday. He was pronounced dead at the scene and a post mortem on his remains is due to take place today at Mullingar Regional hospital. Elderly man dies after road accident in the Midlands Reporter: ); An elderly man killed in road accident in the Midlands on Tuesday evening. Gardaí are investigating a single vehicle fatal road traffic collision that occurred in the Gainstown area of Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, on Tuesday at approximately 7pm. A man in his late 70s, the sole occupant of a van, was pronounced dead at the scene. His remains have been removed to Mullingar Regional Hospital. A forensic examination of the scene has taken place. Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information, particularly any road users who may have dash cam footage, to contact them at Mullingar Garda Station on 044 938 4000 or the Garda Confidential line on 1800 666 111.
