No injuries reported after mobile classroom fire at Suffolk elementary school

SUFFOLK, Va. - Suffolk Fire & Rescue responded to a classroom fire at Elephant s Fork Elementary School early Saturday morning.
According to the fire department, the call for the fire came in at 6:34 a.m. Crews responded to the school, located at 2316 William Reed Drive, where they found heavy smoke coming from a mobile classroom near the school building.
The fire was marked under control at 7:17 a.m. with no injuries reported.
The mobile unit suffered heavy fire and smoke damage, and the department says it is likely a total loss.

SUFFOLK, Va. Officials are investigating a fire that broke out at a Suffolk elementary school Saturday morning, in the section between Shore Drive and Godwin Boulevard.
Suffolk Fire and Rescue said it received a call on Saturday, April 24 around 6:34 a.m. about a fire at Elephant s Fork Elementary School, located at 2316 William Reid Drive.
CHRISTIANSBURG âSome top administrative changes have occurred within Montgomery County government.
Angela Hill, who has worked for the locality since 1997, has been promoted to assistant county administrator. She takes over much of the duties previously handled by Carol Edmonds, who retired at the end of 2020.
Hill, a certified public accountant, most recently served as the director of finance and chief financial officer and retains the latter job title as part of the recent promotion.
âIâm really excited about the new opportunity,â Hill said. âI feel like Iâve grown into this position. I think weâre in a really good place right now.â
