Officials with the National Weather Service said they were sending out survey teams to the hardest hit areas on Thursday. One crew was being sent to Bremer and Butler counties, and another was going to Calhoun and Hamilton counties in western Iowa. Some of the most significant damage was reported near Shell Rock, Waverly, Oelwein and Manchester. Tornadoes were sighted near each of those cities. The twisters either destroyed or damaged property, uprooted trees and downed power lines. No injuries were reported.

Brush collection slated for next week in La Crosse April 21, 2021 3:30 PM Jourdan Vian LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) The city of La Crosse will pick up brush next week, as long as it is placed on the curb by 7 a.m. Monday. The brush must be less than 4 feet in length, bundled with cotton string and weigh not more than 50 pounds. Brush is defined as branches and tree limbs with diameters between 1/4 and 8 inches. The city will not pick up anything larger, nor piles with leaves, grass clippings and other debris. It does not accept logs, stumps or root balls. Residents of La Crosse may haul brush, throughout the season, to the City’s drop-off site on Isle la Plume. New for 2021, a permit sticker will be required to use the Brush & Yard Waste site.
