Russo, the 63-year-old member of Schuyler Meadows, is the area’s all-time leader in major tournament victories among amateurs. Russo certainly knows how to win in golf, and he will play his normal game next weekend when the annual Tri-County Golf Association Match Play Championship is contested Friday through Sunday at Colonie Golf & Country Club.

Gunman fires bullet through occupied van near Elkton

ELKTON — An investigation is continuing after an unknown person shot a bullet through a parked van – occupied by a sleeping homeless man and his dog – while inexplicably opening fire on the street of a neighborhood near Elkton, according to the Cecil County Sheriff’s Office. No one was wounded or injured during the incident, which occurred at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Friday in the unit block of Willow Court in the Winding Brook neighborhood off Fletchwood Road, northeast of Elkton, police reported. As of late Tuesday afternoon, investigators still were trying to determine if the shooter targeted the van or the homeless man inside of the vehicle, if the gunman had a different target or if he discharged the weapon randomly, according to Lt. Michael Holmes, a CCSO spokesman.

Mulch fire at Warrington farm fills sky with thick smoke, closes schools

A large mulch fire early Friday morning filled the sky over portions of Central Bucks County with thick smoke, closing schools and leaving fire crews at the farm off Bristol Road for hours in whipping winds and below freezing temperatures.  Warrington officials said no one was injured from the fire. But a plume of smoke rising from the fire at Winding Brook Farm on Bristol Road could be seen across parts of Doylestown and Warrington, triggering an outpouring of concern from residents and drivers on social media.  Lee Greenberg, Warrington township’s emergency management coordinator, said fire crews were called to the property for several large mulch fires about 4 a.m.
