Bengal FM Amit Mitra said only clarity in Budget 2021 lies in how to sell off government resources, while also hitting out at the Centre for not releasing funds to states.

West Bengal Finance Minister Amit Mitra on Monday termed the Union Budget 2021 presented by his Central counterpart Minister Nirmala Sithraman as ‘visionless’ and said there is nothing in it for the middle class as well as those engaged in informal and unorganised sectors.
The COVID-19 pandemic has caused unprecedented stress on India’s urban public health infrastructure, underscoring the need for urban planning to account for increased demand for health amenities during crises. This paper evaluates the city of Mumbai’s 1991 and 2034 development plans and finds inherent infrastructural inadequacies. It calls on urban-policymakers to complement development plans with robust dynamic health strategies that consider technological advances and epidemiological changes. Public-private partnerships should be encouraged to overcome the challenges of funding and technology adoption in health planning.

Mumbai: Malabar hill viewing deck project moves a step ahead towards reality

The BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has moved another step ahead of getting the city its own viewing deck at Malabar Hill near Tambe Chowk, from where people can enjoy a vantage view of the queenâs necklace (from Nariman Point to Marine Drive). Following a nod from the High court appointed high power committee, the civic body will now push for the project that will give an âunbroken and pristineâ view of the queenâs necklace.
