Former General Secretary of the Christian Council of Ghana, Dr Opuni Frimpong says the Ghana Education Service cannot employ imposition as the means to address the impasse between the Muslim students and Wesley Girls High School.
According to the Convener for Alliance for Christian Advocacy Africa, the Islamic leaders, the government, the Ministry of Education, Ghana Education Service and the Wesley Girls High School should use the old principle of dialogue to address the gridlock and not an imposition.
Speaking on
Okay FM’s Ade Akye Abia Morning Show, Dr Opuni Frimpong pleaded for the various stakeholders to use dialogue as it has been the means over the years in resolving any misunderstanding among the various religious bodies.
Former General Secretary of the People s National Convention (PNC), Atik Mohammed has backed calls for excavators used in illegal mining areas to be burned.
Speaking on
Peace FM s Kokrokoo programme, Atik Mohammed explained that the best sanction to deter people from engaging in illegal mining, also called galamsey, is the burning of the excavators.
According to him, seizing the excavators isn t enough because there have been incidents where people of high power have used their authority to return the excavators to the minng sites after they were seized. Let s not rule out the possibility that people abuse their powers in this country. That, of course, is something we all know. Nobody can pretend not to know that, in Ghana, if you have power; you can have anything and that power can solve almost every problem.

New Delhi [India], May 2 (ANI): Former General Secretary of CPI (M) and senior party leader Prakash Karat on Sunday appreciate Chief Minister of Kerala Pinyari Vijayan for his grand victory of party-led alliance Left Democratic Front (LDF) in Kerala Assembly election.
However, the counting of votes still underway in the state and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) is leading on 57 seats out of 140 Assembly constituencies.
Karat in an exclusive interview with ANI said: I extend greetings to the people of Kerala who have created history by electing LDF government once again to power.

The Unions Descend on the Steps of the National Assembly
Day two of the national budget continued today inside the National Assembly. But it was outside where all the action happened. The joint unions, galvanized by a common stance against G.O.B., brought out the numbers, as well as the drums and dance moves. It was a lively and colorful scene as the union members demonstrated against the government. The message has remained the same, but the showing was bigger today.
