A trapped young seal was saved while struggling in tangles of rope when a dog walker happened to spot him.
Sally-Ann Bennett and her cocker spaniel Lottie caught sight of the hapless seal while on a walk in Portreath, Cornwall.
Ms Bennett quickly alerted the British Divers Marine Life Rescue who were able to send out two helpers to come and save the seal.

AFTER a challenging year, a Cornwall based seal research group is celebrating after receiving over £75,000 from the government to help people have amazing experiences with seals without impacting their habitat. Cornwall Seal Group Research Trust (CSGRT) received a grant of £75,700 from the government’s £80 million Green Recovery Challenge Fund for its ‘People Protecting Precious Places’ project. The money will be used to: • Help people have amazing seal experiences without impact • Create ‘Watching Seals Well’ resources (website, signs, leaflets) • Learn about human interaction with seals by collecting critical research evidence • Tell seal stories to motivate us all to ‘Give Seals Space’ and be ‘Seal Friendly’
