Suspect on skateboard charged with assaulting city workers

Saskatoon police have arrested a man who allegedly assaulted two city workers. On Wednesday at about 8:20 a.m., officers were called to the intersection of 20th Street East and First Avenue South near Midtown for a report of an assault in progress. Three workers were fixing potholes at that location when someone threw a shovel at one of them. When another of the workers stepped in, the suspect hit that individual with a skateboard and then took off. Two workers were taken to hospital and treated for minor head injuries. On Thursday at about 7:45 a.m., police were called to 115th Street West and Central Avenue. A person there said they saw the suspect in the assault kicking a city bus.

SASKATOON Two city employees were taken to hospital after an alleged assault in downtown Saskatoon yesterday. At around 8:20 a.m. May 12, Saskatoon police were called for an assault in progress on First Avenue South and 20th Street, police said in an email. Officers spoke to two individuals who told police a man approached a city crew and threw a shovel at one of them. When a second employee tried to intervene, they said the man hit them with a skateboard before running away, police said. Prior to the incident, the man was seen striking a vehicle with the skateboard, according to police.
