Importance of skill development missions in India
Skill is the ability to do something and development is to do it better the next time. In order to get young entrants into labour force for decent work (or entrepreneurship), United Nations General Assembly declared July 15 as World Youth Skills Day.
A report titled “Young people not in employment, education or training (NEET)” is prepared by International Labour Organisation in partnership with Sida. Globally, one in five young people are NEET and two-third of these NEETs are women. The biggest gap between young men and women is in India, Saudi Arabia and Ethiopia. The report further states that the education participation of women has increased in India but this has not translated itself into fall in the NEET figure.
