Deputy Pringle tells Dail - British Government must not curtail further legacy inquests - Highland Radio

A Donegal Deputy says the Government needs assurances from the British Government that it will not seek to curtail further legacy inquests. Deputy Thomas Pringle has been speaking in the Dail during statements on the Ballymurphy inquest which last week, found 10 people killed in the Ballymurphy massacre were entirely innocent. He also questioned how strong the warning from the Taoiseach to the British Prime Minister was against an amnesty for soldiers accused of crimes during the Troubles:

The interjection came during a discussion on when TDs should return to Leinster House. Deputy Padraig MacLochlainn, the Sinn Fein Whip, was one of a number of TDs who argued that the time is right to return to the Dail chamber, rather than continue using the Convention Chamber at a cost of around €25,000 for every day the Dail sits. Ceann Comhairle Sean O Fearaghail said they were there reluctantly on the basis of Public Health advice, and the Taoiseach s reply elicited a response from the Sinn Fein benches......

A Donegal Deputy is supporting a call for a public inquiry to be held into the ongoing Mica issue. Deputy Padraig MacLochlainn has submitted a parliamentary question to Housing Minister Darragh O Brien after being lobbied by campaigners of Mica affected homeowners who are dismayed at the Government s failure to hold a public inquiry into the issue. Deputy MacLochlainn says the anger among homeowners in Inishowen over the past number of days was palpable:

A Donegal Deputy says there is a clear lack of communication between health officials and the people of Donegal. A meeting was held between the Chief Medical Officer, the Health Minister and Donegal Oireachtas members on Saturday following concerns raised by Dr Tony Holohan over the high levels of Covid-19 in Donegal.
