Applications for Donegal Culture & Creativity Grants Scheme now open - Highland Radio

Funding applications for the Donegal Culture & Creativity Grants Scheme 2021 have now opened. The Scheme is offering 20 grants of €2,000 each to projects that encourage cooperation and collaboration between communities and heritage specialists, artists, culture professionals and/or creative industries to preserve, conserve, research, practice, exhibit, perform, instruct, engage, enhance, promote or address an aspect of the material or non-material culture in an original, imaginative or creative way. The Donegal Culture & Creativity Grants Scheme 2021 promotes collaboration and fosters creativity as envisaged in the Creative Ireland programme. The funding is being made available through the Creative Ireland programme which is supported by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media and Donegal County Council.

€12m funding announced for Greencastle Harbour Breakwater Project

Minister Charlie McConalogue. The announcement follows a letter from the Minister to John McLaughlin, Chief Executive of Donegal County Council, and meetings between the Minister and the Greencastle fishing and harbour development groups hosted by the Foyle Co-Op today, Wednesday. The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine previously co-funded the development of a rock breakwater at Greencastle Harbour between 2007 to 2011 along with the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs and Donegal County Council. The total project includes a 290m breakwater with 155m constructed when works ceased in 2010. The estimated costs of completing the capital works is €11.9m and the co-funding will be on the basis that DAFM will provide 75% of the funding of €9m with Donegal Council providing the remaining 25% funding.

Bealtaine at Home launched in Donegal - Highland Radio - Latest Donegal News and Sport

Ireland’s national celebration of the arts and creativity as we age, Bealtaine Festival, will be celebrated from home next month. Age & Opportunity’s 2021 festival’s edition, Bealtaine at Home, will celebrate In(ter)dependence as its theme. In County Donegal the festival, now in its 24th year, will be kicked off with a special launch event recorded at the Regional Cultural Centre (RCC), Letterkenny and premiering online on Saturday, 1st May at 7pm, to mark the beginning of the month-long festivities. Hosted by Fergus Cleary, the launch event will be streamed on the RCC’s Facebook and YouTube channels and features acts from across the county.

Public opinion saught on Caravans and Camping in Donega A NEW survey to get the public’s views on caravan, camper van and camping in Donegal was launched today (Thursday).  This survey, which is being undertaken by KPMG Future Analytics, is part of a study being conducted on behalf of Donegal County Council and will allow members of the pubic to share their thoughts on caravan and camping in Donegal and how best to develop the sector going forward. The study will provide a detailed review of the sector as it currently exists within County Donegal providing an assessment of the opportunities and threats currently presenting for the sector as well as an assessment of good practices elsewhere that could be implemented within existing legislative requirements.
