CLEVELAND, Ohio Zach Plesac has made it known he wants to win a Gold Glove Award someday for the Cleveland Indians. If he keeps making plays like the one he turned in during the fifth inning Tuesday, he’ll almost assuredly make that dream come true.
With Luis Rojas representing the tying run at second base with nobody out in the fifth, Angels catcher Drew Butera attempted a sacrifice bunt on a high pitch from Plesac. The ball hung in the air between the plate and pitchers mound as Plesac dove forward, snagging the pop before it hit the ground.

CLEVELAND, Ohio We made it.

CLEVELAND, Ohio Indians outfielder Jordan Luplow left Monday’s game against the Los Angeles Angels with a left ankle sprain, the club said.
Luplow injured the ankle in the third inning while running out a soft ground ball back to Los Angeles pitcher Patrick Sandoval. It’s the same ankle Luplow injured early in spring training, causing him to delay his exhibition debut with Cleveland this year until late March.
Luplow’s injury is the latest in a string of tough luck for the 27-year-old southern California native. In 2019 he missed most of the month of August with a left hamstring strain. In 2020, he fought through lower back soreness during summer training camp.
Do the Cleveland Indians’ offensive woes run deeper than something even Owen Miller can solve?

CLEVELAND, Ohio In the last two weeks, infielder Owen Miller has 21 hits in 44 at-bats through 11 games for the Triple-A Columbus Clippers.
His hit total is higher than seven of the 13 active position players on the Cleveland Indians big league roster right now. Miller’s six extra-base hits would already rank tied for seventh on the team with shortstop Andres Gimenez in nearly half as many at-bats.
Indians president of baseball operations Chris Antonetti is not the only person taking note of the 24-year-old’s rapid development. Miller has seven multi-hit games including five starts where he’s collected three hits each.
