Libyan army says weapons were hidden within batch of medicines Mohammed Erteima | 14.04.2021
TRIPOLI, Libya
The Libyan army said on Wednesday two Egyptian planes that landed in Libya s southern Sabha International Airport had brought weapons and ammunition to Libyan warlord Khalifa Haftar.
According to a statement by Abdelhadi Drah, spokesperson for the Libyan army s Sirte-Jufra Operations Room, the weapons were hidden within a batch of medicines.
Drah said: Two of the Egyptian C-130 aircraft landed in the Sabha Airport under the pretext of bringing medicines but brought weapons and ammunition.
He added that the batch contained a small number of medicines, while most of the shipment comprised weapons.

The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) on welcomed an agreement by the Libyan Legal Committee (LC) on the constitutional basis for the upcoming elections,
Anadolu Agency reports. LC members worked for long hours and were able to overcome divisions and managed to reach consensus on constitutional basis for the elections, the UNSMIL said in a statement.
Formed on Dec. 17 based on a roadmap approved by the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum (LPDF), the Legal Committee consists of 17 members tasked with following the constitutional path for Libya s roadmap towards holding elections.
Greek PM to visit Libya, reopen embassy
Accompanied by Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias, the prime minister is set to meet the head of the presidency council, Mohammad Menfi and interim prime minister Abdul Hamid Mohammed Dbeibah.

ATHENS - Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will next week become the latest in a procession of European leaders to travel to Libya to touch-elbows with the new Government of National Unity.
Mitsotakis will visit Tripoli on Tuesday “to normalise and restore relations”, Greek government spokeswoman Aristotelia Peloni told reporters. He will also reopen his country’s embassy which has been shuttered for six years.
