Hyderabad: The unprecedented lockdown has turned all lives topsy-turvy. The Telangana government had extensively worked (or not) to make it easier, but it barely made any difference. But, apart from the plethora of challenges it tried to unknot, the government made rather surprisingly commendable use of the lockdown to expedite the process of re-carpeting the old roads and construct new ones.

Politicians paying tribute to the late Prime Minister at PV Gyan Bhoomi in the city on Wednesday.
Raising the banner of ‘son of the soil’, three mainstream parties on Wednesday observed the 16th death anniversary of former Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao.
Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao also paid tributes to PV, saying that the latter would go down in the history of the country as an endless reformist. The country was reaping the benefits now of reforms introduced by PV in economic, education and land administration. His firmness in dealing with internal security and external affairs had strengthened the country’s unity, integrity and sovereignty.
Police Command Control Centre to be inaugurated next year

The Integrated Police Command Control Centre, coming up at Banjara Hills at a cost of ₹800 crore, will be functional next year, said Home Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali on Thursday.
After inauguration the 200 community CCTV cameras in the limits of Golconda, Asifnagar, and Humayun Nagar police stations, Mr. Ali said that the first-of its-kind Command Control Centre in the country would make Hyderabad more safer.
“Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao laid a big platform for peace and security in the State, as part of which he provided adequate support to the police department. About 60 percent of the total cameras in the country are located in Hyderabad,” he said.

SECUNDERABAD: Telangana Home Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali said that recruitment for 20,000 police posts would be filled by the State Government by next year. The Home Minister inaugurated a new building of theKarkhana police station under the North Zone limit in the city on Wednesday morning. Speaking on this occasion, he said that since the past six years more than 27,000 police personnel recruitments had been completed. Keeping in mind the safety of women in the State, SHE teams and Bharosa Centres were established, he said, and that these numbers would also be increased further.

A new building for Karkhana police station was inaugurated by Telangana Home Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali on Wednesday morning. DGP M Mahendar Reddy said that the Police Commissionerate system has been in place in Hyderabad since the time of the Nizam. “Some police stations are still running in the buildings set up at that time. After formation of Telangana, we are setting up new police station buildings,” he said. The government has allocated budget for new buildings to 19 police stations in the city limits. After Karkhana, the remaining 18 buildings will be completed.
