While the economy is expected to rebound in the coming months, it is important to sustain the momentum. Hence, there has to be a concerted effort by all the stakeholders in making the economy robust again and I urge India Inc. to take the lead in this regard, the Vice-President said at the convocation address at the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) here on Monday.

Mr. Ali said police officers of all ranks are trained on how to behave with the public and urged the citizens to follow traffic rules, stop at signals and wear helmet to stay safe.

Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu has suggested to the corporates to encourage whistle-blowing mechanisms and provide adequate safeguards for the protection of whistleblowers as it was important to ensure transparency and accountability in corporate governance to enhance the confidence of stakeholders, including shareholders. “We need to protect public money and systems have to be made foolproof to reduce any scope for any irregularity. Strong principles of corporate governance must be the driving force of any company. Transparency, integrity, and honesty must be upheld at all times and must be reflected in every business activity, “ he advised, the company secretaries at their convocation address of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) in Hyderabad on Monday.

Ramarao on Tuesday launched the free drinking water scheme in Rahmat Nagar here and said nine lakh families would stand to gain from it. Mr. Rao reached Rahmat Nagar along with a phalanx of public representatives including Home Minister Mohammad Mahmood Ali and corporators. He interacted with residents and sought to know whether the benefits of welfare schemes of the Telangana government had been reaching them, and handed them zero water bills.
