Qatar launches refurbishment project of dhow boats 21 Apr 2021 - 17:11 The Peninsula Doha: Qatar National Tourism Council (QNTC) has initiated a large-scale project to refurbish a fleet of over 40 dhow boats. Taking place in three phases, the project will include the refurbishment of the dhows, modernisation of marinas and jetties, as well as health and safety training for crew members and captains. In its first phase, the programme will see 40 licenced dhows being restored and the onboard experience upgraded while retaining the authentic traditional exterior. Once complete, each dhow will be more environmentally friendly, with solar energy replacing diesel fuel and LED lights installed to improve efficiency. Dhows will also be equipped with amenities to maximise passenger safety and comfort.

QNTC conducts inspection campaign at Qatar Centre for Motorcycles in Sealine

Qatar National Tourism Council (QNTC) carried out two inspection campaigns at the motorcycle and four-wheel drive bike rental offices in Sealine. These inspections were carried out to ensure the properties are licensed and committed to applying the provisions of Circular No. (5)/2018, which specifies operating guidelines associated with tourism transport activities, as well as the terms and standards of four-wheel-drive bikes, designated for tourists for desert trips. QNTC launched the inspection campaigns at the beginning of 2021. During the first campaign, 26 rental offices were notified about existing violations, with final warnings issued during the second campaign. Rental offices that continue to violate license and safety conditions will be shut during the third campaign, which started in February.
