Firefighters were dispatched to the residence about 6:30 a.m. Friday, according to a social media post by the Crestview Fire Department.
Two shifts of firefighters from the Crestview Fire Department assisted the North Okaloosa Fire District on scene. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire, but the home sustained substantial damage.
No injuries were reported, according to the Crestview Fire Department. The cause of the fire has not been determined.
The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office and Okaloosa County EMS assisted firefighters.
Crestview police accepting applications for Citizens Police Academy

CRESTVIEW After being abruptly interrupted in March 2020 as COVID-19 lockdowns went into effect, a condensed version of the Crestview Citizens Police Academy will return this year, according to police department officials.
“Obviously, there are some things we won’t be able to do,” CPD Officer Sam Kimmons said in a news release. “For example, we can’t tour the jail this time.”
To allow social distancing during Warriors Hall classroom instruction, the 2021 free academy will be limited to 20 participants, who will meet each Tuesday for six weeks beginning March 9. Graduation will be April 13.
