Amazon, Maple Leaf Foods to begin on-site COVID-19 vaccinations for employees in Peel Region

Published Thursday, April 22, 2021 5:01PM EDT Amazon has been selected by the province as one of the first three workplaces that will run vaccination clinics in hot spot neighbourhoods in Peel Region. Peel Public Health announced Thursday that it is expanding its vaccination strategy to more settings in the coming weeks, including at select workplaces. Maple Leaf Foods and Maple Lodge Farms have also been chosen to host immunization clinics for their employees. These same workplaces will then operate local community clinics in partnership with the Region of Peel and community organizations, held at community centres, places of worship or other community hubs. Specific details on how to access workplace and community clinics will be shared once operational details are finalized. Employees at workplaces will be contacted directly by their employer, the statement reads.

Toronto, Peel require all businesses with 5 or more work-acquired COVID-19 cases to shut for 10 days

  TORONTO Both Peel Region and Toronto will now require workplaces with five or more recent coronavirus cases to shut down for 10 days in most instances in a bid to stem spread of the virus in settings largely permitted to operate as normal during the Ford government’s third state of emergency. Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Lawrence Loh says that beginning on Friday, any business with five or more known COVID-19 cases occurring within a span of 14 days or fewer, where cases “could have reasonably acquired their infection at work,” or no other source of transmission can be identified, will have to shut down.

Choudry s family and community members gathered in Mississauga around 1 p.m. outside his apartment building, at the intersection of Morning Star Drive and Goreway Drive, where he was killed while having a mental health crisis last summer.
