Pakistan, Uzbekistan agree to acquire leased lands for export cargoes

LAHORE: Pakistan and Uzbekistan are planning to acquire leased lands on each other s countries, a measure the government says will help boost exports to untapped markets.
Abdul Razzak Dawood, advisor to the Prime Minister on commerce and trade said Uzbekistan has asked for 25 acres of land on lease in Karachi or Gwadar to store and ship their cargoes for South East Asian and the Middle Eastern countries.
“They want to stock their goods coming from Uzbekistan for onward shipments to different destinations in the Middle East and East Asia, Dawood told businessmen at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI).

FPCCI conducts high-profile seminar on Human Resources

Mian Nasser Hyatt Maggo, President FPCCI, has emphasized that Pakistan’s HR needs are different than those of international practices. He added that it is the reason why FPCCI has organized a training and a seminar on Modern Practices in Human Resource Management with reference to Pakistan to educate SMEs and entrepreneurs.
Dr Sobia Iqbal, Director – Career Services & Corporate Relations, DHA Suffa University, conducted the seminar and discussed the past, present and the future of Human Resource Management. She also shared mini case studies pertaining to Pakistani companies and their HR issues. Major themes of the session were workplace harassment, managing productivity, work from home and the future of human resource management. The seminar was also attended by HR professionals, academicians and entrepreneurs from various countries over Zoom and the session was kept open for questions after the presentation.
FPCCI demands equal tax on LPG

KARACHI: Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) on Tuesday demanded equal taxation for imported and locally-produced LPG to provide the industry with a level-playing field, and urged large oil refineries to also raise their voice in support of their distributors.
FPCCI President Mian Nasser Hyatt Maggo said that FPCCI was not against LPG import, but, against disparities in taxation. He was speaking at the first meeting of FPCCI’s Standing Committee on LPG.
“LPG imports should continue until local producers can meet the demand in full,” he said, adding that the share of imported LPG would increase in Pakistan under current circumstances.
