Retired Weymouth cop seeks Council seat

Retired Weymouth Police Officer Edward Hancock said he wants to continue his lifelong commitment to public service by getting elected to the District 6 Town Council seat on Nov. 2.
“After serving the town for over 23 years, I want to see some changes in the district, he said.
Hancock retired from the police department in March 2020; his duties included 16 years of service as a K-9 officer.
The National Association of Police Organizations awarded Hancock an honorable “Top Cop” honorable mention in March 2008 for his arrest of 20-year-old Ryan Bois in connection with the murder of his cousin, Joanna Mullins, in August 2007.

The fire started Saturday night in a building off Silva Lane. Multiple explosions were heard in the fire. Tankers were brought in to help fight the flames. The building is a total loss. No word if anyone was injured.
