BURLEY, Idaho â Seven-year Idaho State Board of Education member and immediate past president, Debbie Critchfield, has announced her candidacy for state superintendent of public instruction on Tuesday, and will pursue the elected position as a Republican.
Focusing on current challenges and statewide discussions, Critchfieldâs primary focus is to restore the value of an Idaho education.
âParents are questioning the effectiveness of their childâs education, teachers are discouraged about their profession, local board members are wondering about the system, administrators are seeking for state direction, industry is desperate for student preparedness and taxpayers are debating state investments, Critchfield said. We must make education count. Itâs time to restore the value of an Idaho education.
Coronavirus in Illinois: 1,741 New COVID Cases, 30 Deaths, 81K Vaccinations
Illinois health officials reported 1,741 new confirmed and probable coronavirus cases and 30 additional deaths Sunday, along with nearly 81,000 vaccine doses administered.
According to the latest figures from the Illinois Department of Public Health, the state has now recorded 1,354,967 cases of the virus since the pandemic began, along with 22,223 fatalities related to the virus.
An additional 2,354 deaths are currently classified as “probable” COVID-19 fatalities, according to IDPH data.
In the last 24 hours, 65,930 tests have been performed statewide, bringing the state’s total number of tests to 23,347,731.
State officials say that 80,843 doses of the coronavirus vaccine were administered Saturday, boosting the state’s rolling seven-day average to 73,622 doses per day. In all, 9,908,489 doses of the vaccine have been administered since it became publicly available in December.

Led by 98 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan reported the highest number of new cases of COVID-19 Friday since 300 were involved in the April 12 update from the Ministry of Health. The 295 new cases of the novel coronavirus, coupled with 237 recoveries, meant the province’s active case went up to 2,239…174 of which are in hospital. Thirty-eight of the hospitalized infections are being treated in an I-C-U. A senior in their 70s from the South West zone brought Saskatchewan’s death toll due to positive COVID-19 tests to 502. In addition, 27 cases of variants of concern were confirmed in Friday’s update, bringing the provincial total to 3,031…of which all but 45 are of the U-K strain.
