Summer Bible camps often employ a theme or center themselves around a particular activity each year.
But what about a summer Bible camp where participants duke it out on the field of battle with foam swords, spears and shields?
Enter Push the Rock’s Stronghold Foam Sword Fighting Ministries, which will host a foam sword-fighting camp July 19-23 at Murrysville’s Sardis Park.
“I would’ve loved to have this camp when I was growing up,” said Stephen Ippolito, who along with his wife, Janeen, developed the Stronghold foam sword-fighting ministry about 12 years ago.
“We had both done it in college, and we did some after-school programs when we were both working as school teachers,” Ippolito said. “We enjoyed it a lot and after we graduated, I decided I wanted to do it as a youth ministry.”

MEADVILLE, Pa., July 9, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ Rose s House: God, Please Forgive Bonnie : a gripping pair of stories. Rose s House: God, Please Forgive Bonnie is the creation of published author Patrick J. Sloan, a loving husband, father, and grandfather who served with honor with the Elite Marine Corps Honor Guard. He is a recipient of the American Legion Distinguished Service Medal for outstanding citizenship for creating and dedicating time to the Veterans Park in Cresson, Pennsylvania.
Sloan shares, Rose s House: In 1930, a young boy from a small coal-mining town in Western Pennsylvania spotted a small airplane flying over his town and made a promise to himself that he would someday be that pilot. James McDonald, that young boy, made true to his promise. His piloting skills took him to faraway places. Along his travels, he met the love of his life, Rose.
Study: Single family homes in the city would pay a fee between $12 and $36 per year.
Larger properties in Erie would pay much more, because the $24 billing unit would be multiplied by their square footage
Erie businessman Rick Griffith understands the financial calculus related to long-term infrastructure needs.
That’s why Griffith is not surprised that Erie Mayor Joe Schember’s administration is exploring a new revenue stream that several other municipalities have put in place: a yearly fee assessed on property owners which covers the multimillion-dollar costs related to ongoing stormwater system maintenance and improvements.
The fee which could bring the city $1.6 million a year, according to preliminary estimates would apply to residential and commercial properties regardless of taxable status, which means governments, nonprofits and other owners of properties that are currently tax exempt would pay as well.
