Fort Lewis College will celebrate student scholars at 9 a.m. Thursday in an in-person and virtual symposium. Because of the ongoing pandemic, the in-person aspects of the symposium will be limited to the campus community. Community members may join the virtual event at www.fortlewis.edu/symposium under the Virtual Symposium tab. FLC will celebrate the research, scholarly and creative works its students completed under the mentorship of faculty. Students have dedicated themselves to investigating, innovating, exploring, composing and creating, and by doing so they have asked big questions, challenged conventional wisdom and pushed the boundaries of knowledge.

This agreement is part of a series of transactions for SEG as part of their strategic decision to divest of the BI-LO banner, which was announced on June 4. Piggly Wiggly stores in South Carolina and Southeast Georgia, which are independently owned and operated, are supported and supplied by C&S Wholesale Grocers. A new acquisition is helping to expand Piggly Wiggly’s presence in the Southeast while also aiding Southeastern Grocers Inc. (SEG) in divesting the Bi-Lo brand. Two independent Piggly Wiggly  store owners, with the support of C&S Wholesale Grocers Inc., have entered into a definitive agreement with SEG to acquire one Bi-Lo store in South Carolina and one  store in Georgia. There are more than 600 Piggly Wiggly supermarkets independently owned and operated in several states. C&S supports and supplies the South Carolina and southeast Georgia locations.

C&S Wholesale Grocers-supplied operators expand in South Carolina, Georgia Supported by C&S Wholesale Grocers, two independent Piggly Wiggly owners plan to acquire one Bi-Lo supermarket in South Carolina and another in Georgia from Southeastern Grocers. C&S said Monday the Bi-Lo at 1042 US-80 West in Pooler, Ga., is being purchased by Ashley and Missy Thompson, who own four Piggly Wiggly supermarkets in southeastern Georgia. Charles Starbuck, a new owner for Piggly Wiggly stores in the Southeast, is buying the Bi-Lo store at 760 US-378 in Lexington, S.C. Plans call for the acquired Bi-Lo stores to be remodeled to Piggly Wiggly locations upon the completion of the transactions, expected in mid-January pending customary closing conditions, Keene, N.H.-based C&S said. Including the two new stores, C&S will support and supply 55 Piggly Wiggly locations in South Carolina and southeastern Georgia, served through the distributor’s Mauldin, S.C., warehouse.
