Tom Barrett signed a resolution Thursday officially renaming Old World Third Street between W. Mckinley Avenue and W. Wisconsin Avenue, uniting the street to Martin Luther King Jr. Drive to the north.
The resolution was sponsored by Alderwoman
The renaming will extend Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. south, so it will run from W. Capitol Drive at its north end to W. Wisconsin Avenue at its south end. The city is working with local business owners on the logistics and a timeline for replacing the current street signs.

Joshua Glover (est. 1810s–1888)
Joshua Glover escaped from Benammi Stone Garland s Missouri farm in 1852 and traveled by foot to Racine. Because of The Fugitive Slave Act, Garland was legally able to hunt down Glover and recapture him in March 1854. Garland and his men took Glover to a jail in Milwaukee with the plan of returning Glover to Missouri.
