CALUMET The Keweenaw Peninsula was voted the top vacation destination in Michigan’s Western Upper Peninsula by MLive on Tuesday. The online poll, which ran
last week, included destinations like Marquette, Porcupine Mountains State Park, and Ironwood. Factoring in other areas of the peninsula thaw were in the poll, like Copper Harbor, the Keweenaw Peninsula received about 75% of the votes.
“Obviously, we’re really proud of earning this recognition,” said Brad Barnett, executive director of the Keweenaw Convention & Visitors Bureau. “The Keweenaw is an incredible destination, and in a lot of ways, it’s still a bit of a secret for a lot of people, even in Michigan.”

SAGINAW, MI Longtime MLive reporter Bob Johnson has been named news leader for the The Saginaw News and The Bay City Times.
Johnson, 44, was appointed interim news leader in February 2021, following the death of his predecessor, veteran journalist Eric English.
Johnson is a Saginaw native and Delta College alumnus.
“I am honored to lead a team of great journalists who work hard to keep our communities informed,” Johnson said. “I look forward to our team telling the great stories in our area and reporting on the issues that affect our communities.”
