Blast during home geothermal heating installation injures 3 June 22, 2021 GMT LEBANON, Ohio (AP) An explosion in an Ohio home during installation of a geothermal heating system injured three workers, one seriously, authorities said. Fire officials in the Clinton-Warren Joint Fire District said the blast occurred in the basement of the Washington Township home just after 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. Officials called it a “flash explosion” that caused a fire that spread to the main level of the residence. Fire officials said three Jackson Geothermal employees were injured. One was flown to Miami Valley Hospital with severe burns. Another was taken to Clinton Memorial Hospital for treatment of burns that were said to be “not severe,” officials said. The third person refused treatment at the scene.

DARKE COUNTY DEPUTIES INVESTIGATE SECOND JULY 4 Th TRAFFIC FATALITY   On July 4, 2021 at 3:54 p.m. Darke County Sheriff Deputies along with Arcanum Rescue, Laura Fire Department, Darke County Accident Reconstruction Team and Miami Valley Care Flight responded to a 2 vehicle accident at the intersection of Red River West Grove Road and Penney Road.    Preliminary investigation revealed that a Black 2008 Honda CMX250 motorcycle driven by Thomas Shatzley (85), of Pleasant Hill, was traveling south on Red River West Grove Road and attempted to turn east onto Penney Road.  A Blue 2003 Honda Accord was traveling northbound on Red River West Grove Road driven by a juvenile (17), of Arcanum.  Mr. Shatzley’s vehicle turned into the path of the Honda causing the vehicles to collide.  Mr. Shatzley was ejected from his motorcycle.
