Three children died Saturday after they were pulled from a burning home in southern Miami County.
Miracle Gingerich, 6, Steven Gingerich, 5, and Wilma Gingerich, 1, were pulled from the home by firefighters and taken to area hospitals where they later died, a news release from the Indiana State Police said.
Miami County Central Dispatch first received word of the fire at the home at 13475 South Miami County Road 300 East at 10:48 a.m., the release said.
The release identified the caller as Laura Gingerich, 27, a resident of the home, who reported heavy smoke and that her three children were trapped inside the residence.

Three young siblings died from injuries suffered in an early Saturday morning house fire in Miami County.
Indiana State Police Sgt. Tony Slocum said 6-year-old Miracle Gingerich, 5-year-old Steven Gingerich and 1-year-old Wilma Gingerich were trapped inside their home in the 13000 block of South County Road 300 East.
Slocum said their mother, Laura Gingerich, called 911 around 10:50 a.m. Saturday to report that her children were in the burning residence. Firefighters that arrived shortly after 11 a.m. found the children in a second-floor room that contained heavy smoke.
The children were all found unconscious and not breathing, Slocum said. Miracle was taken to a Kokomo hospital, while Steven and Wilma were taken to a Peru hospital.

WEST MILTON The Piqua Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a Saturday afternoon crash that claimed the life of a driver.
At approximately 3:35 p.m., emergency personnel from the Laura Fire Department and Union Township EMS responded along with the West Milton Police Department, Miami County Sheriff’s Office and the Ohio State Highway Patrol to the area of the 10000 block of West Frederick-Garland Road in reference to a single-vehicle crash with possible injuries.
