U.S. Marshals arrest fugitive in Ohio wanted for child sex crimes in Sweden Jen Balduf © Butler County Jail Andrew Garrett Gonnella A man arrested Wednesday morning in Ohio is awaiting extradition to Sweden, where he is accused of sexually assaulting a child. Andrew G. Gonnella, 33, of Eaton, was arrested in Columbus without incident and taken to the federal courthouse in Columbus, according to a release from Deputy U.S. Marshal Daniel Tebo of the Southern District of Ohio. He was booked Wednesday evening into the Butler County Jail in Hamilton. Gonnella was wanted by the U.S. Marshals Service because he is a fugitive from Sweden, where he faces charges of gross rape of a child and gross sexual assault of a child. The charges are connected to crimes that allegedly happened during Gonnella’s travel to Sweden, Tebo stated.

Three children killed in Saturday house fire

Three children died Saturday after they were pulled from a burning home in southern Miami County. Miracle Gingerich, 6, Steven Gingerich, 5, and Wilma Gingerich, 1, were pulled from the home by firefighters and taken to area hospitals where they later died, a news release from the Indiana State Police said. Miami County Central Dispatch first received word of the fire at the home at 13475 South Miami County Road 300 East at 10:48 a.m., the release said. The release identified the caller as Laura Gingerich, 27, a resident of the home, who reported heavy smoke and that her three children were trapped inside the residence.

Slocum said their mother, Laura Gingerich, called 911 around 10:50 a.m. Saturday to report that her children were in the burning residence. Firefighters that arrived shortly after 11 a.m. found the children in a second-floor room that contained heavy smoke. The children were all found unconscious and not breathing, Slocum said. Miracle was taken to a Kokomo hospital, while Steven and Wilma were taken to a Peru hospital.
