Chinese company disqualified for Vande Bharat trainsets project ANI | Updated: Dec 24, 2020 16:18 IST New Delhi [India], December 24 (ANI): The Indian Railways has disqualified the bid of a consortium of a Chinese company and an Indian firm for the manufacturing of 44 Vande Bharat trainsets costing nearly Rs 1,800 crores. Now there are only two valid bids of BHEL and Medha Servo Drives. Medha, which had got the contract for the manufacturing for the first two such trains, has quoted the lowest bid, sources said. Only three players had put the bid for the big contract including the CRRC-Pioneer Electric India, a joint venture between Beijing based CRRC Yongji Electric Ltd and India s Pioneer Fil-Med Ltd, which has its plant in Haryana.

Indian Railways Dismisses Bid Of Chinese Led JV For Manufacturing 44 Vande Bharat Trainsets Train 18 (Indian Railways/Twitter) Indian Railways has dismissed a joint bid of Beijing based CRRC Yongji Electric Ltd and India’s Pioneer Fil-Med Ltd for the 1,800 crore worth manufacturing of 44 Vande Bharat trainsets, Times of Indiareports. Companies that have beneficial ownership in countries sharing land borders with India are mandated to get registered before they participate in public procurement contracts. The CRRC-Pioneer Electric India had applied for the same and they had even submitted their bids when the railways had asked for proposals for the procurement of these trains earlier this year.

It took almost four weeks for the railways to evaluate the tenders and take the final call. Railway officials had earlier told TOI that the tender committee would take the decision on the validity of bids.
