That was the last time I got to see them : Father reflects after losing children to house fire

MINONG, WI (KBJR) A weekend fire claimed the lives of two children in Northeast Wisconsin. Flames broke out around 4:45 Saturday morning at a home on West Semrad Road in Minong. Inside were 10-year-old Phoebe Denhartog and her 13-year-old brother, Thatcher. Neither made it out. Mark Denhartog will always remember his 39th birthday party as the last time he was with his two youngest children. They said good-bye. I said good-bye. Then I walked out the door. That was the last time I got to see them. I got to say I love you and good-bye, said Denhartog. Denhartog then left to take care of his mother several miles away.

House fire leaves two children dead in Northwestern Wisconsin

MINONG, WI Two children are dead following a fire Saturday morning in Minong, WI. Authorities say the fire broke out around 4:45 a.m. at W Semrad Road in Minong where the house was engulfed inflames upon arrival. According to authorities the two children found dead, were ages 10 and 13. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. According to a GoFundMe page, the family does not have insurance and has a goal to raise $25,000 to help with funeral costs and other expenses. They are also collecting clothing donations for the family. A private memorial service was held Sunday at the home.
