Robbins Library to open for short-term browsing by appointment

Robbins Library to open for short-term browsing by appointment Community Content Effective April 5, the Robbins Library is expanding services to include short-term browsing on all floors. The hours for browsing and all other library services will be 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. To book a pass for the General Collections (all floors except Children’s) or the Children’s Room and to learn more about other services available in this phase of reopening, visit “Get a Browsing Pass” at http://robbinslibrary.org. All visits are limited to 15 minutes, and the maximum number of passes complies with the state’s Phase III Step 2 indoor capacity guidelines. Passes must be reserved at least one day in advance.

When the library is closed, materials may be returned in the book and audiovisual deposit at the Rosemary Street Parking Lot entrance. Curbside Pickup: The library is now offering curbside pickup. Borrowers will be able to call the library and request materials from the library’s many collections. In addition to adult, young adult and children’s books, the library’s collections of DVDs, blue-rays, audiobooks, CDs and magazines are available. To obtain items: check the library’s catalog to make sure that wanted items are available in Needham. Libraries: Not just for (book) lovers Amy Wilson Sheldon/Special to the Crier The Minuteman Library Network has been a godsend for me since March 2020. I’ve been able to use the Minuteman site to reserve novels that would be hard to find via many retailers. I’ve downloaded bestsellers to my Kindle. I’ve even gone really meta and watched a documentary about the New York Public Library via Kanopy, the on-demand streaming service that is accessible with your Minuteman library card. But, as “library people” like to say, libraries are More Than Books. February is actually Library Lovers’ Month, so in the spirit of St. Valentine, I’d like to point out some of libraries’ most attractive qualities:
