Remains of a Twin Cities man who had been missing for nearly a month have been located in the waters of Lake Superior off the northernmost reaches of Minnesota s shoreline, and a man has been charged with helping with the dismemberment.
Dive teams worked Thursday and Friday recovering the remains of Richard A. Balsimo, 34, of St. Paul, in the lake near Grand Portage, the state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) said Monday.
Balsimo was reported missing by his sister on June 20. As recently as early last week, police had not considered the case a suspicious disappearance. Police said the last anyone heard from Balsimo was about 2 a.m. that day when he sent a text message to the mother of his child.

Mark Pavelich s death has finally been confirmed. Through a news release, the Midwest Medical Examiner s Office announced that the team USA hockey legend killed himself at the age of 63. The above individual died of asphyxia due to a plastic bag over head. The manner of death is suicide, the statement from the Medical Examiner s Office read. It also noted that the hockey star died at 08:35 A.M. on March 4 at the Eagle s Healing Nest in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.

A Minnesota medical examiner says last month’s death of “Miracle on Ice” Olympic hockey player Mark Pavelich was ruled a suicide.
The Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office in Anoka County says Pavelich died of asphyxia at age 63.
His body was found March 3 at the Eagle’s Healing Nest in Sauk Centre.
The Minnesota native was undergoing treatment there as part of a civil commitment for assaulting his neighbor in August 2019.
He was charged with felony assault but a judge found he was incompetent to stand trial because he was mentally ill and dangerous.
Pavelich was a member of the gold-medal winning 1980 U-S Olympic team.
