Small Farms Winter Webinars advance food production in Illinois

GALESBURG There is no off season on the farm and winter is a chance for small producers to gain new knowledge. The University of Illinois Extension 2021 Small Farms Winter Webinar Series offers small farmers 10 free weekly sessions with tools to improve their profitability and sustainability.
Starting in January, university experts will provide practical knowledge producers can use on emerging topics that advance local food production in Illinois. Topics include biological pest control, aquaculture, cut flower production, regenerative grazing, accessing wholesale markets and more.

Illinois Extension hybrid Master Gardener training with live sessions will start Feb. 16. Participants will study online each week and then attend a weekly live webinar session on Tuesday mornings for 12 weeks.
“Our hybrid training is a great opportunity for folks who need more flexibility to participate,” state Master Gardener specialist Candice Hart said. “The online portion of this hybrid model gives more flexibility for trainees to learn at their own pace each week and also participate in weekly live interactive webinars with their fellow trainees.”
