Midnight Sky review: Director-star George Clooney gets sentimental

It’s mere coincidence George Clooney resembles Santa and dwells atop the North Pole while on a not-so-jolly journey to the ends of the Earth in “The Midnight Sky.” So don’t be fooled by the long gray beard and icebox setting for a dour end of the world mopefest in which it’s 2049 and climate change is killing off all the girls and boys, both naughty and nice. Belonging up in the air with those films is “The Midnight Sky,” which is directed by and stars Clooney. Already in a limited theatrical run, it lands on Netflix Dec. 23.
