EDISON – Middlesex College officially unveiled its new name and logo at a flag-raising ceremony Thursday on campus.
The school, which was known as Middlesex County College, rebranded in January.
Shanice Pearson, whose photo adorns one of the banners that traverse the campus, said she is thrilled the college changed its name and that her diploma will sport the new term.
“I love the new look,” she said. “It is bright and fresh and appealing. I think it represents the experience students have at the college.”
“Some may look at these new signs and see merely signs with the college’s updated name, but they are so much more than that,” Middlesex County Commission Director Ronald Rios said. “They reflect the college’s ongoing commitment to the campus community and to the entire Middlesex County community.”

Calling them threats to the community, U.S. District Judge Thomas Hogan denied pretrial release for George Tanios and Julian Khater. They were charged in the assault of Sicknick, who grew up in South River and died after defending the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6.
According to the FBI, Tanios and Khater, who no longer live in New Jersey, know each other and grew up together in the New Brunswick area.
Hogan said the assault with chemical spray on Sicknick and two other officers contributed to the mob’s ability to breach the police line that had been guarding the Capitol.
