Fatal Crashes Killed Two Men This Month on Route 9
OLD BRIDGE, NJ There have been multiple deadly crashes on Route 9 in Old Bridge in recent weeks, including one that took the life of a pedestrian that police are still trying to identify.
The first took place on April 3 when Miguel Reis, a 22-year-old Old Bridge resident, was killed after his BMW rear-ended a tractor trailer that stopped for a red light on Route 9 South at Ferry Road at around 3:40 a.m. that morning.
Reis was an an athlete with the NJFC soccer club, within the UPSL Premier Division.

The Lawrence Board of Education appointed Eshaya Draper as the operations manager to the superintendent at their April 21 meeting.
Draper began in Lawrence on April 27. He succeeds Lana Mueller who is retiring May 1, after 26 years of service to the district.
Prior to joining Lawrence Township Public Schools (LTPS), Draper orchestrated aspects of the New Brunswick Public Schools’ communications and public relations initiatives, according to information provided by LTPS.
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Draper has focused on crisis communications while supplying students with platforms to express their opinions to district administration, according to the statement.

HOWELL – John Gagliano, who fashioned an outstanding career as a wrestler at Howell High School before returning to his alma mater to coach the Rebels, notched the 500th dual meet victory of his coaching career late in the 2021 campaign.
When the Rebels defeated Piscataway, 69-9, in Piscataway on April 6, Gagliano’s coaching record moved to 500-79 over his 24-year coaching career at Howell.
Gagliano’s teams have won two NJSIAA Group V team championships (2017 and 2018), four state sectional titles, seven district team championships and 18 Shore Conference A North Division titles.
Gagliano was named the National Wrestling Coaches Association New Jersey Coach of the Year for the 2016-17 season.
