Man appears in court following Carlisle attempted robbery
A man has been charged with attempted robbery and carrying a knife in a public place.
Matthew Neale, 44, of no fixed abode, was charged following an incident near the Crown & Mitre Hotel on English Street, Carlisle, at about 8.30am on Thursday,
Nobody was injured.
He appeared before the cityâs magistratesâ court on Friday, where he was remanded in custody ahead of a further appearance at a later date.
Police are appealing for witnesses in connection with the incident,
Officers are appealing for any witnesses who may have been in the area at the time to contact them on 101.
