Lack of internet connectivity has been a long-standing challenge for the residents of Mawhrei village. With universities taking the online exam route, students had to come up with a novel solution to the problem.

AIZAWL: Seven undergraduate students of a remote village in south Mizoram s Siaha district bordering Myanmar on Tuesday appeared for their online semester examinations from a hilltop due to poor internet connectivity in their hamlet.
The students, all from Mawhrei village, were compelled to trek 5 km on a jungle track to reach the Tlao-tla hill as there is no motorable road. Compared to Mawhrei, the place has better Net connectivity.
The Mara Students Organisation (MSO) constructed a makeshift hut using timber, bamboo and plantain leaves to help the students appear for the exam. They received the questions on email which they accessed through their smart phones.

Aizawl, May 7 (PTI) The African Swine Fever (ASF), which killed more than 1,700 pigs in over a month in Mizoram, is yet to be contained, an official said on Friday.
The disease is spreading to other areas even though the daily death toll in the epicentre showed a declining trend for a few weeks, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department Joint Director (Livestock Health) Dr Lalhmingthanga told PTI.
Earlier the state government had declared Lungsen village and Electric Veng in Lunglei district, Armed Veng and Edenthar neighbourhoods in Aizawl, Keitum village in Serchhip district, and a locality, Vaipi-I, in south Mizoram s Siaha town as the epicentres of the ASF.
