Budgam: Principal Secretary, Housing and Urban Development Department (H&UDD), Dheeraj Gupta, who is also In-charge Administrative Secretary for District Budgam, today visited Budgam to review the status of different development projects being executed in the district under different state and centrally sponsored schemes like Capex, languishing, B2V and District Development Plan 2021-22 .
District Development Commissioner, Budgam, Shabaz Ahmed Mirza, presented a detailed overview of projects being implemented in various sectors through a power point presentation. He said despite odd circumstances arisen amid COVID-19 Pandemic and prolonged winter season, the district administration has been able to complete maximum schemes targeted under various sectors during the year 2020-21. He informed that under District Capex 2020-21 an amount of Rs.178.86 crore has been approved, out of this, Rs.118.32 crore have been made available and the expenditure achieved during the year stands a

MPs have criticised the Department of Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities in the Presidency because of the high levels of gender-based violence.
Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane said the department was committed to eradicating GBV.
She claimed that South Africa s policies were lauded overseas.
Opposition MPs questioned the reason for a Department of Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities in the Presidency in the light of the high prevalence of gender-based violence in South Africa.
But, according to Minister in the Presidency for Women, Youth and Person s with Disabilities Maite Nkoana-Mashabane, South Africa is lauded internationally for its policies.

While highlighting the role of elected PRIs, the DDC said that the District Development Plan has assumed immense significance after the formulation of District Development Councils, Block Development Councils thereby completing the three tier PRI system to ensure democratic decentralization. He informed that for the first time, proportionate funding to all three tiers of PRIs is being ensured to cater to the development aspirations of the people through DDCs, BDCs and Panchayats.
The DDC urged the BDCs to discuss the plan with DDC members which will help effective need based development in the district besides meeting needs of the people. He added that it will facilitate the members in better planning and implementation of several schemes under the plan.
