The verdict was handed down in the Manchester Parish Court in a sitting in Porus.
A statement from the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) said District Constable Hyman was charged on August 23, 2017 with the shooting of an 18-year-old female student on December 8, 2016.
The student reportedly sustained a severe gunshot wound to one of her legs following an interaction with the officer on a staircase at Big Youth Plaza in Christiana, Manchester.
The attorney representing District Constable Hyman indicated to the judge that he intends to appeal the ruling.
The district constable was subsequently granted bail in the sum of $200,000, with two sureties, pending his appeal.
