Llama drama: Animal on the loose spotted roaming roads south of Guelph

  GUELPH There was an unusual sight south of Guelph on Wednesday: a llama, spotted on the lam. The llama caught the eye of some area residents, who saw the animal throughout the day in both the Arkell and Puslinch areas. Rudy Gwinner took a picture of the loose llama around 2:30 p.m. in the area of Watson and Hume Roads. He said he noticed the animal on his drive home from work. I thought, is this a horse? It wasn t a horse because it wasn t that size, he said. Then I realize, it s a llama! Gwinner says the llama, which looked about seven feet tall and nearly 400 lbs, was casually strolling between rural homes.

Cabinets Express opens design centers in Brighton, Sterling Heights

Cabinets Express, an offshoot of home remodeling firm KSI Kitchen & Bath, is expanding to two new stores.  It s like a fresh start, said Matt Norton, sales director for Cabinets Express.  Norton is overseeing the two new stores, including one coming soon to 9962 E. Grand River Avenue in Brighton Township. Their first design center opened in Sterling Heights last year.  It is the first time Cabinets Express has operated standalone design centers. The company is currently located in warehouse space at KSI s corporate headquarters at 9325 Maltby Road in Green Oak Township.  KSI is planning to move its headquarters to Wixom. Cabinets Express will use warehouse space at that new location.

2 arrested following Genesee County police chase

Updated: 8:00 PM EDT May 25, 2021 GENESEE COUNTY, N.Y. Two people are facing several charges following a police chase Monday evening in Genesee County. According to the Genesee County Sheriff s Office, around 7:30 p.m. a deputy spotted a vehicle speeding north down Route 63 in Oakfield. The deputy turned on the lights and sirens of the marked sheriff s patrol vehicle; however, deputies say the vehicle refused to stop.  The dark colored Pontiac sedan proceeded to turn east onto Route 262, then north on Fox Road, refusing to stop. The vehicle continued to speed through the intersection of Fox Road and Maltby Road, going through the stop sign. Deputies say while the vehicle was driving through the intersection it went into the air and proceeded to drive into a field off of the north shoulder of Maltby Road. The vehicle hit a tree and continued to drive through the field.
