Readers searching for escapism during lockdown have helped publisher Bloomsbury outstrip the market with surging sales and profits.
The company said people had turned to reading for a ray of sunshine in an otherwise dark year , pushing pre-tax profits up 22pc to £19.2m for the year to February.

SAN DIEGO In their first formal opportunity to weigh in on the 2022 San Diego city budget, dozens of San Diegans Wednesday night made it clear that they don t support parts of the $4.6 billion proposal.
Many of those who called in to the public hearing were upset about an increase to the city s police department funding. This budget is absolutely disgusting and racist, one called charged.
IN 2008 Abergavenny Food Festival clocked up its tenth year and marked the occasion with plenty of festivities. By then the festival had been spotted as the rising star in British artisan food. Events were held in the build up to the festival, including a parade of school children from Abergavenny, dressed as chefs and carrying giant food items.
