Final Four numbers: Milan the methodical

May 24, 2021 by Euroleague.net/graphics by Darius Garuolis Print There may be an odd exception out there over the years, but you d be hard-pressed to find a head coach anywhere in the world who would not say that limiting turnovers is a major goal on the road to winning. Obviously, lowering turnovers means more shots at the basket for your team and fewer for the opponent. Less obvious is the fact that taking care of the ball can also lead to better-quality shots, which is how keeping it safe ultimately pays off. It doesn t matter much if you never turn the ball over but finish possessions by throwing up wild shots that don t have much of a chance of going in the basket.

Hawks Star Cam Reddish Awarded Jason Collier Memorial Trophy

ATLANTA – Today it was announced that Atlanta Hawks guard/forward Cam Reddish has been awarded the Jason Collier Memorial Trophy for the 2020-21 season. Reddish is the 14th player to receive the award, earned annually by the Hawks player who most closely exemplifies the characteristics of a community ambassador displayed by Collier, the late Atlanta center who passed away in 2005. “It is my responsibility to support the communities that have played, and continue to play, such a huge part in my life. After my rookie season, I truly understood the powerful platform I have as a professional athlete and how much of an impact that I can make,” said Reddish. “It is an honor to receive this award, but I know this is just the start. I’m looking forward to helping others and creating change for years to come.”

Final Four-bound: AX Armani Exchange Milan

May 06, 2021 by Euroleague.net Print AX Armani Exchange Milan is the only team that played in each of the first three EuroLeague Final Fours. However, Milan had not been to European basketball s flagship event in 29 years until it secured its return this season. The Final Four was introduced in 1966, but lasted only two seasons. Milan defeated Slavia Prague in Bologna, Italy, in the first championship game and lost to Real Madrid in the title game in the Spanish capital a year later. Milan was the reigning EuroLeague champion when the Final Four was reintroduced for the 1988 season and defended its title by beating Maccabi Tel Aviv in Ghent, Belgium. However, the club has not won the title since and its lone Final Four appearance after that was in 1992.
