AX Armani Exchange Milan is the only team that played in each of the first three EuroLeague Final Fours. However, Milan had not been to European basketball's flagship event in 29 years until it secured its return this season. The Final Four was introduced in 1966, but lasted only two seasons. Milan defeated Slavia Prague in Bologna, Italy, in the first championship game and lost to Real Madrid in the title game in the Spanish capital a year later. Milan was the reigning EuroLeague champion when the Final Four was reintroduced for the 1988 season and defended its title by beating Maccabi Tel Aviv in Ghent, Belgium. However, the club has not won the title since and its lone Final Four appearance after that was in 1992.
