Raja Minhas, who had worked for Sky since 2017, was dismissed by the company for ‘gross misconduct’, following an incident in The Mall Blackburn on June 6 2019. At an employment tribunal, it was heard that while working on the Sky TV stand, Mr Minhas made a the comment to his colleague, Mia Klemetti, after seeing two teenage girls walk past wearing short skirts. Ms Klemetti challenged the comment, and the conversation became heated.

Campaign launched by shopping centre for Children s Mental Health week

THE MALL has launched a campaign to coincide with Children’s Mental Health Week To mark this year’s Children’s Mental Health Week (February 1 to February 7), the Blackburn shopping centre has launched their ‘My 2021 Time Capsule’ campaign. Organised by the charity Place2Be, there will be worksheets and activities for the children to complete throughout the week, helping them to express their thoughts, feelings and be creative. Topshop permanently closes Blackburn store

TOPSHOP have confirmed they have closed some stores after claims staff were given just four days notice. The store in The Mall Blackburn was set to close last year in January but was kept open for another year. Owned by Arcadia Group, who also had Miss Selfridge and Outfit, the fashion retailer had originally set March 28 as a closing date. Problems began in May 2019, when tycoon Sir Philip Green announced plans to close 23 stores in the UK and Ireland. A spokesman for the store at the time, said: “The Topshop Topman Blackburn store will cease trading on 28th March 2020 and we have endeavoured to offer current staff other employment options within the Arcadia Group.”
