CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Just over a week ago, a statue that depicts a former slave kneeling at President Abraham Lincolnâs feet was removed from a park in Boston.
19 News discovered what at first glance appeared to be a similar piece of artwork in Cleveland inside the Soldiersâ and Sailorsâ Monument on Public Square.
Historians say the statues were not meant to offend or cause controversy but instead recognize an important moment in history.
