New Traveling Exhibit Now Open At Clay County Heritage Center By charguth January 12, 2021 5:15 am Saga Communications Spencer, IA (KICD)– If you are looking for something to do and want to learn about Native American lifestyle, the Clay County Heritage Center has you covered with a new exhibit that opened today. Director Stephanie Horsley tells KICD News the exhibit from the Siouxland Heritage Museum in Sioux Falls is centered around the tipi. Those planning to see the exhibit can expect to learn specifically about the Native Americans that called Northwest Iowa home prior to the area being settled, including how versatile the tipi had to be.

Stephanie Horsley, one of the organizers, says many of the events are centered around health care workers, hospitalized patients and residents of long term care facilities. “We’ve invited people to ‘adopt a sidewalk’ at the Spencer hospital,” she says. “My kids and I did that. We took our chalk and we wrote some just really encouraging words and they’re getting really filled up. It’s looking beautiful over there.”

Group of Spencer Businesses and Organizations Come Together for a “Kindemic” December 22, 2020 12:34 pm Saga Communications Spencer, IA (KICD)– The last nine months has truly been a trying time for many both locally and around the world because of the pandemic, but a group of Spencer businesses and organizations have come together to start a trend of happy acts. Stephanie Horsley is one the organizers behind the Spencer “Kindemic” that is happening on Wednesday. She tells us many of the events taking place are centered around the healthcare workers, hospitalized patients and residents of long term care facilities. Wednesday will also feature a special promotion with Muggabeans and Black Earth Java to get healthcare workers some free coffee which will lead up to what is being called a “Spencer Wave” later in the afternoon.
