The Ontario government is launching a $57 million program to connect small businesses with tech-savvy students, $2,500 in grants and online training.
Lambton-Kent Middlesex MPP Monte McNaughton is confident in the abilities of the students, and explained the purpose of the program is to assist small-businesses in their online endeavours.
Students working in the squad program assess a business’s digital literacy and give information on how to access the Digital Main Street digital transformation training program, help in creating a Digital Transformation Plan, applying for and spending the $2,500 Digital Transformation Grant and much more.

Fifty Normal businesses received grants totaling $450,000 from The Town of Normal’s Small Business Relief Program to assist with COVID-19 impacts.
“As a long-standing business owner, I know how important these funds are in sustaining many small businesses during these unprecedented times. I proudly support all efforts to bring financial assistance back to our community,” said Mayor Chris Koos.
The Town granted the money through the State’s Local CURE (Coronavirus Urgent Remediation Emergency) Economic Support Grant Program, a federally funded effort from the Coronavirus Relief Fund. The Town opened applications for local businesses on Dec. 1.

Business owners within the downtown core of Gravenhurst can now apply for a grant that can help grow their business. The Property Improvement Grant has contributed close to $500,000 in grants and leveraged almost $5.8 million dollars in local investments.
“We continue to see a need to create and support places to live, work and play in the community. Our permanent and seasonal population continues to grow, and the downtown plays a large role in that. Whether creating new residential units through the Residential Rehabilitation/Conversion Grant, supporting new businesses through the signage improvements grant, or our existing property owners with improved facades, this program is key to driving investment in our downtown core,” says Mayor Kelly.
